Vaunceil Gould, 64

Vaunceil "Vonnie" Gould, 64, of 820 Caroline Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Mercy Hospital after a long illness.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial was established in her name.

Mrs. Gould was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Fairfield, to Curtis and Alvina (Miller) Briggs. She grew up and was educated in Fairfield. She graduated from Jefferson High School. She married Floyd Gould on Oct. 16, 1954, in Kahoka, Mo. They lived in Iowa City, where she worked at various locations before retiring from the Veterans Affairs Hospital after 22 years.

She was a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress and had been inducted into the Hall of Fame. She also coached junior bowling leagues in Iowa City. She was a member of the I-Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda and her husband, Gene Newmire, of Iowa City, a son, David and his wife Polly Gould, of Swisher and five grandchildren, Dan and Jon Newmire, and Josh, Megan and Nick Gerber.

Her husband died earlier.
