Maureen M. Kent, 76, died Monday February 6th at Mercy Hospice of complications related to COPD.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, February 10th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30pm and the Women of the Moose will conduct a service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Assn, American Heart Assn. or Iowa City Hospice.

Maureen was born March 11, 1935 in Iowa City, the daughter of Louis and Margaret Sterner Quinlan. She was a 1953 graduate of Cosgrove High School and attended Iowa City Commercial College. On November 22, 1956 she married Lawrence Kent at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove.

Maureen was employed for 42 years at the University of Iowa and retired from the department of cardiology at UIHC. Following retirement she worked part time at Hy-Vee.
Maureen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Women of the Moose. She liked to cook, knit and spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Maureen is surviving by her loving husband Lawrence and their son, Jeffrey (Robin) Kent of Wellman and her three grandchildren, Brandon (Theresa) Kent of Monticello, Misty (Eric) Bierwagen of Ames and Matthew Kent and fiancé Tauni Kirby of Cedar Rapids; and great-grandson Quinlan Justin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Justin.
