Christopher “Chris” A. Drop, 61, of Iowa City died Tuesday, January 31st at home of pancreatic cancer.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, Saturday, February 4th at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Graveside Services will be at 1:30pm at Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the Christopher Drop Memorial Fund has been established.

Chris was born August 27, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Gloria Brown Drop. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1969 and Briar Cliff College in 1974. He later received his respiratory therapy degree in Chicago. On July 8, 1972 he married Ann Marie Maggi in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Chris was the clinical manager in respiratory therapy at UIHC for many years. In 1991 he established Christoph’s / Allan’s Building and Design which specialized in kitchen and bath remodels and home construction.

Chris was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed the time spent with his family and gardening.

The family extends their appreciation to Iowa City Hospice, Drs. William Silverman, James Mezhir and Daniel Berg and all the family and friends.

Chris is survived by his wife Ann and their four children, Katherine “ Katie” Drop, Stephen Drop (Maren Stevens) and Elizabeth “Libby” Drop, all of Iowa City and Matthew Drop (Christine Dudzik) of Tulsa; his mother, Gloria Drop of Sioux City; two brothers, David (Becky) Drop of Newcastle, CO and Timothy Drop (Norma Wagoner) of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Cassandra “Cassie” (Harold) Saul of Sioux City and Melinda (James) Fredericks of Hornick, Iowa; his mother in-law, Mary Ann Maggi, brothers-in-law Anthony, Andrew and Dan and sisters-in-law Teri, Vera, Andrea and Annette, all of St. Paul; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his father-in-law Angelo and his brother-in-law Michael Easton.
