Dr. Hardin Dies at 93

Dr. Lewis W. Harding, who organized and headed the department of anesthesiology at University hospitals, in Lexington, Ky., Tuesday after a long illness. He was 93.

A native of Washington county, Doctor Harding was graduated for the University of Iowa medical school in 1890 and he began his practice in Solon.

He came to S.C.I. in 1912 and until 1939 headed the anesthesiology department. From 1930 to 1940 he practiced medicine in California and then went to Lexington to make his home with his son.

Survivors include the son, Dr. Donnan B. Harding; a daughter, Miss Merle Harding, of New Orleans, La., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 1918.

Funeral services were held at Lexington. The body was cremated and the remains will be returned to Iowa City for burial.
