Robert J. Flannery, 90, of Oxford, died peacefully at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa on Sunday, January 22, 2012.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove with Reverend Edmund Dunn officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A rosary will begin at 4:00 pm and a parish vigil service at 6:45 pm. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cosgrove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Parkview Manor or St. Peter’s Church.

Robert was born January 3, 1922 in Oxford, to James and Marguerite (Kessler) Flannery. He married Maxine Quinlan on April 12, 1944 in Cosgrove. Robert was a lifelong Johnson County farmer and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Robert is survived by two sons, Dale (Kay) Flannery of Iowa City and Dan Flannery of Oxford;
two grandsons, Michael (Christy) Flannery of Raleigh, NC and Patrick (Jessica) Flannery of Iowa City;
six great-grandchildren, Brendon, Aidan and Ashlyn, all of Raleigh, NC and Cory, Liam and Elleigh, all of Iowa City; two sisters, Helen Halsch of Oxford and Marita McGurk of Iowa City and a sister in law, Pauline Flannery of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine, a brother James and his parents.
