Bong Ho Park, who was born January 25, 1920, passed away January 20, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City at the age of 91.

The family will greet friends Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will begin Monday at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

His achievements were splendid spanning almost a century. He fought for Korean Independence from Japanese Conquerors during WWII. During the Korean War, he fought for North Korea/Red China Army as a lieutenant Captain. After the war, he returned home and became a congressman and a politician until coming to the United States in 1981.
Since then, he was a true Iowa City resident for more than 30 years. Although his appearance was small and of a small figure, his ambition was like a gigantic ocean or majestic mountains. Bong was always on the side of justice and truth throughout his entire life. He never negotiated with untruthfulness, evil or wrong.

Bong had not lived as a Christian but was baptized while in the hospital and will be in God’s Heaven with peaceful eternal life. His family will always remember him as a good family man, community leader and servant.

He was left with his beloved wife So Jo Park, four daughters, two sons, fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
