Carl “Jud” Demory, 96, died peacefully Saturday December 31, 2011.

Graveside Committal with Military Honors will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 3rd at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.

Jud was born October 18, 1915 in Morse, Iowa, the son of John and Bernice Fisher Demory. On February 11, 1942 Jud married Wanda Sanger in Des Moines.

He managed VFW Post 2581 for twenty years, was employed by the Iowa City Community School District and upon his retirement drove for Toyota of Iowa City.

Jud served in the US Army in England and Italy during WWII.

Dancing with Wanda to the Oggie Frazier Band at the Club and playing golf brought great joy. Earlier in his life Jud experienced personal hardships and therefore was generous to those in need. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his son, Dan (Joan) Demory and his daughter, Diane LaDuke, both of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Denise, Derek, Danielle and Mark; four great grandchildren, Madeline, Hunter, Olivia and Grant; his brother, Harold (Donna)Demory of Okoboji ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, siblings Clara, Art and Dorothy, and his beloved beagle, Chelsea.
