Elaine M. Eden, 71, 5624 Sioux Ave. SE, Iowa City, Iowa died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 28 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Regina Catholic Community Foundation.

Elaine was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Newport Township, the daughter of Frank and Loretta Burger Sedlacek. She married Robert Eden Nov. 25, 1961 in Iowa City. Together Bob and Elaine farmed south of Iowa City for 42 years.

She graduated from Iowa City High School and prior to her marriage to Robert, she worked at First National Bank in Iowa City. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church.

Elaine is survived by her husband Robert Eden of Iowa City, one sister, Dolores Erb and her husband Donald of Denver, CO and their children, Diane and Ray Flores, Susan and and Phil Evans and Michael and Jennifer Erb; one aunt, Elsie Pisarik of Mt. Vernon, IA.

Other survivors include: Ellen Benson, Lone Tree, Carroll Eden of Iowa City, Charles H.and Irmgard Eden of Fredricksburg, VA, Kenneth and Florence Millsap of Iowa City, Marion Eden of Hills, William D. and Delores Eden of Iowa City, Betty Kirchner of Riverside, David and Lavon Kirkpatrick of Houston, TX, Margaret Eden of Sun City, AZ, Wendell and Betty Eden of Washington, IA, Donald and Beverly Felt of Anaheim, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
