MRS. BARNES DIES MONDAY -

Funeral Will Be Held Here at 2 p.m. Wednesday Afternoon

Mrs. Mary Barnes, 79, who resides here with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Crow, 1306 Keokuk Street, died of a stroke at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Crow home.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Czechoslovakia, July 24, 1865, a daughter of Anton (John) and Helen Benesh.
She came to the United States when nine months old, her parents residing in Johnson county.

In 1882 she married Arthur Barnes and they lived for many years on a farm north of Oxford. He died in 1934. Mrs. Barnes had lived in Iowa City the past four years.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Crow, Mrs. Orville Chcney of Palisade, Minn., Mrs. Sidney Mohr of Victor, Mrs. Farnk Dolmage and Mrs. Ted Specht, both of Oxford and Mrs. H. J. Robertson of Louisville, Ky; one son, Joseph, of Marengo; on siser, Mrs. Helen Earsa of FAirfax; one brother, John Benesh of Monticello; 16 grandchildren, four in service; and six great grandchildren. One son, Ben, died at the age of 25 and two daughters died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at the Oathout Funeral Chapter Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Somerville officiating. Burial will be in the Oxford cemetery.
