Daniel Eugene Tholen, 50, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dan’s life will be held at 11am Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Avenue in Iowa City, where the family will greet friends from 10am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Dan Tholen Memorial Fund (for the college education of his children).
Dan enjoyed spending time with his children and attending their many sporting events. Dan was known by some of his valued customers as “Dan the Carpet Man” due to his many years at Randy’s Carpet Outlet. In his spare time, Dan loved to watch NASCAR, football, and enjoyed listening to talk radio.
He will be missed most by his three sons and close family and friends, and his beloved companion Cork.
Survivors include Dan’s three sons: Austin, Tucker and Jacob; wife Glynda Tholen, two sisters: Cathy and Debbie; mother Margaret Tholen, and a niece Amanda. Dan was preceded in death by his father Eugene Tholen and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
