Hills Farmer Pinned to Wall When Machine Starts In Gear

Funeral Services will be held Friday for William Gerot, Hills farmer, who died Tuesday Evening of injuries suffered in a tractor accident on his farm.

Mr Gerot, who was 70 years old, was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when the tractor he was cranking started in forward motion, pinning him against a machine shed on the farm. It was several minutes before Mr Gerot's son, Louis, was able to release his father. He was taken to the hospital where attending physicians said he was suffering from a severely crushed chest, a sever laceration of his thigh, deep bruises on his body and head, and other injuries.

Mr Gerot was born in Riverside and lived on a farm in that vicinity with his parents. He was married to Miss Catherine Wieland, April 17, 1894, and the couple have resided on a farm near Hills for the last 25 years.

Mr Gerot was a member of St Joseph's Church in Hills, and the Holy Name Society of that church.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs J E Sexton, of Pleasant Valley township, his son, Louis, at home, and a son, Harley, of Iowa City; three sisters, Mrs Lou Duwa of Richmond, Mrs Mary Thoman, of Iowa City, and Mrs Henry L Dolle (sic) of Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held a 9 o'clock Friday morning in St Joseph's church and burial will be in St Stanislaus cemetery. The remains were to be at the McGovern Funeral Home until late Thursday afternoon when they were to be taken to the family home near Hills.
