Donna J. Zeithamel, 80, of North Liberty died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 18th of cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Rev. Dr. Barrie Tritle officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Donna was born September 8, 1930 in Lone Tree, Iowa, the daughter of George and Bessie Thomas Aubrecht. She attended Iowa City Commercial College. On June 5, 1953 Donna married Leo Zeithamel in Iowa City.
Donna and Leo owned and operated Zeithamel Photography for over 40 years. Donna had been employed at Proctor and Gamble. She especially enjoyed her relationship with the “Golden Girls”, her co-workers at South Slope.
Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church and an associate member of the Professional Photographers of Iowa. Donna liked to garden, especially growing raspberries and flowers as long as they were pink, mauve or white in color. Most important to Donna was her family, for whom she loved to cook and organize family reunions. She will be greatly missed.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Leo and their two children, Marci (Phil) Michel of Solon and Norman (Sheila) Zeithamel of Coralville; three grandchildren Jamie Zeithamel, C.J. and Hailee Michel; four siblings, Kathryn Hebl of Hills, Beverly (Rashid) Al-Rashid of Omaha, Marlene Boerjan of Iowa City and Merrill (Betty) Aubrecht of North Liberty; her special friend Joy Eagle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Harold and Maynard Aubrecht, Lucille Kucera, Lillian Allen, Marjorie Anciaux and Letha Musser.
