Anna Shaffer Rites Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Shaffer, who died here Tuesday at the age of 100, will be conducted Thursday morning at Solon. Mrs. Shaffer was a lifelong resident of Johnson county.

Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Brosh funeral home in Solon and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church cemetery. A rosary was to be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. today.

Mrs. Shaffer died in an Iowa City nursing home. She was born in a log cabin south of Solon, October 18, 1857, a daughter of Frank and Catherine Kessler.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Heinsius, of Solon, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Benjamin Shaffer, died in 1931.
