Emma L. Hanley age 97 of 605 Greenwood drive and formerly of 804 Woodside Drive, Iowa City died on August 8, 2003 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City. In accordance with her wishes her body was donated to the Deeded Body Program through the University of Iowa Anatomy Department. Online condolences may be sent to her family at www.gayandciha.com.
Emma Louise Betz was born on January 22, 1906 in Grimes, Iowa the daughter of Christian H. and Augusta W. Barlelt Betz. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines and worked as the account/bookkeeper for Farm Mutual Telephone.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews including, John E. Betz and wife Anita of Des Monies, Beverly B. Betz of Grimes, E. Homer Betz and wife Marilyn of Bode, Iowa. Her husbands Paul L. Dorsey and H. Dewey Hanley preceded her in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Emma's services.
