Rosella Mae Oakes, 86, of 617 4th Avenue, Coralville died peacefully Monday, July 21, 2003 at her home following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2003 at 1PM at Lensing’s Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville with Rick David officiating.
Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery. Friends may call after 11AM Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.Mae was born December 5, 1916 in Solon, Iowa the daughter of James and Minnie Hilyard Russell. She was united in marriage to Theron Wray Oakes on October 5, 1935.
Mae was a longtime resident of Coralville and had been employed as a laboratory technician in otolaryngology at University of Hospitals and Clinics. She was a member of Royal Neighbors and Liberty Vineyard Christian Fellowship.
Mae loved flower gardening, sewing, cooking and crafts and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was a loving and caring friend to all. A special thank you to Cheryl, Emily and Jackie for all their loving care during Mae’s illness.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn Glea Hutcheson and her husband William of Iowa City and
Ethel Joann Good of North Liberty; Three Sons, Albert James Oakes and his wife Claudia of San Bernardino, California, Terry Wray Oakes of Coralville and Gregory Lee Oakes and his wife Beth of Muscatine; Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty one Great Grandchildren, and Two Great Great Grandchildren.Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Harold; and one grandson, Timothy Wray Oakes.
