Clarence “Jack” Vevera, 96, of 703 Kimball Ave. died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at his home.
The Funeral will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service-605 Kirkwoodd Ave. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Iowa City American Legion Post # 17. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Iowa City Senior Center.
Clarence was born September 12, 1906, in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Neuzil) Vevera. Clarence served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked many odd jobs including security for the University of Iowa and as a janitor for Mercy Hospital. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Melvin and William; three sisters, Anna Parizek, Mary Kral, and Helen Thompson; and longtime companion, Joyce Wilborn.
