Kenneth P. Moore, 64, West Branch
Kenneth P. Moore, 64, of West Branch, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City from lung cancer due to exposure of agent orange.

Funeral mass was held Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch. Visitation was Sunday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial with military honors was in St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery, Nolan Settlement, in rural West Branch. A memorial fund has been established. Kenny was born Oct. 16, 1946, in Iowa City the son of Tom Moore III and Regina Pfieffer Moore. He was a graduate of West Branch High School and Bailey Technical College in St. Louis, Mo. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 1st Calvary division in Vietnam. In 1969, Kenny and Patty Meyer were married at St. Bridget's Catholic Church.

He had worked as a mechanic at UPS, custom farmed, drove a truck and worked in the pipeline business as a Teamster. He was a member of the Morse Community Club. He enjoyed his Harley and riding with friends, and spending time with his family and friends especially his granddaughter, Victoria. He loved to hunt and had a great appreciation and love for his guns.

Survivors include two sons, Tim (Candice) Moore of North Liberty and Matt (Meagan) Moore of West Branch; granddaughter Victoria Moore; the love of his life, Patty Moore of Tipton; father Tom Moore III; sisters: Sharon Moore of Boone, Iowa, and Martha (Steve) Davis of Des Moines, Iowa; and his faithful companion, Gunner.

He was preceded in death by his mother and younger brother, John Edward.

[NOTE: Nolan Settlement is the area around the St. Bridget's Catholic Church, which is actually considered rural Solon, in Johnson County.]
