Frieda Snavely Vogel died Monday, June 9, 2003 in Lantern Park Nursing Home in Iowa City, Iowa, after a short battle with cancer.

Frieda Martha Moritz was born April 16, 1916, to Ernestine (Anna) Siemast Moritz and Gottlieb Moritz in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. When she was 8, the family moved to Merrill, Wisconsin. She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she met and married Harold Landis Snavely on February 19, 1939. They moved to Chicago and settled in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where they raised their family, David, Joyce and Suzi. They were married for 17 years until Harold died in 1956. On August 11, 1961, Frieda married Raymond Vogel from Oak Lawn, Illinois. They were married 33 years until his death in 1994.

Frieda was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She was a dedicated volunteer at Christ Community Hospital in Oak Lawn for 27 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: David and Alana Snavely of Orange, California, Joyce and Vic Pinke of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Suzi and Jim Morrison of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Beth (Pinke) and Todd Schildroth, of Independence, Kansas, Brian Pinke of Chicago, Illinois, Ben Pinke of Breckenridge, Colorado, Sarah Morrison of Iowa City, Iowa, Paul Morrison of Iowa City, Iowa, Michael Snavely of Orange, California, and Kristen Snavely of Orange, California; and her great grandchildren, Samantha and Ashley Schildroth of Independence, Kansas.

She was buried at Fairmont Cemetery in Oak Lawn, Illinois, on June 12, 2003. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service handled local arrangements.
