Cletus R. Burke 78 of 1518 Bristol Dr., Iowa City died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Greenwood Manor.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Church or Regina Community School Fund.

Cletus was born July 24, 1924 in Ryan, Iowa the son of James F. and Bertilla “Bea” Reilly Burke. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Army during World War II. He attended the University of Iowa. He worked for NCS for over twenty-eight years. He started his career as a computer operator and then worked as the manager of the computer data center and finally worked as a senior cost accountant. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a former member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Peg Burke of Iowa City, Iowa, by three sons, Jack Burke and his wife Carolyn of Iowa City, David Burke and his wife Paula Li of Oakland, California, Bill Burke and his wife Lisa of Cumming, Georgia; four grandchildren, Angie and her husband Fred Wilz of Ankeny, Iowa, Amy and her husband Tom Brandt of Iowa City, Iowa, Jeff Burke and his wife Kate of Atlanta, Georgia, Josh Burke of Cumming, Georgia; four step grandchildren, Tristan Tom, Aimee Tom, Taylor Kelly and Hunter Kelly. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one sister, Katie Seemuth of Iowa City, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
