MRS. M. STRUB DIES TODAY
Heart Attack Fatal To Iowa City Woman;
Was 59 Years OldMrs. Mary A. Strub, 59 wife of Edward J. Strub, 510 Bowery street, died at her home at 9:45 a.m. today from a heart attack.
Mrs. Strub was born at Rapahoe, Nebr., May 16, 1866, the daughter of Ruben and Susan Gibbs. She moved to Center Point with her parents as a child and attended school there.
On July 4, 1904 she was married at Center Point to Mr. Strub and they moved to Iowa City where they lived until 1917, when they moved to Marengo where Mr. Strub was associated with the Hummer Store.
Mrs. Strub was a member of the Rebekah lodge No. 416 and was a junior past noble grand. She was also a member of the Lena T. Ring circle, the Royal Neighbors of America, the Iowa Women's club, the Methodist church, and the W.S.C.S. For the past several years she had been employed as matron at the university women's gymnasium.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. Susan Gibbs of Cedar Rapids, one daughter, Mrs. Marie Shaffer, specialist second class in the Waves; one son, Clarence J. Strub of Iowa City; one grandson, Don Strub; and two sisters, Mrs. O.B. Brown of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Martha Lyons of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, Faye Lucile, 10: and one son, Lawrence, 8.
Funeral arrangements have not been made. The body is at the Oathout funeral chapel.
