Catherine Susan (Driscoll) Markee, of Iowa City and Mt. Vernon, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at her home following a brief illness.

Catherine was born December 27, 1919 in Williamsburg, IA, the daughter of Daniel L. and Mary Ellen Dalton Driscoll. On May 31, 1952 Catherine married Robert Markee at St. Mary’s Church in Iowa City. Robert died in 2002.
Catherine was a 50 year member of St. Mary’s Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. In 2006 she moved to Mt. Vernon to be near her daughter. She was a member of St. Johns Church in Mt. Vernon.

Catherine loved to quilt, knit, crochet and sew. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family and faith were most important in her life.

Catherine is survived by one daughter Susan Schettler (William) of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Barbara of Dallas, Eric (Megan) of Sioux City and Eadie of Cedar Falls; great grandson, Jack; one brother, Thomas (Helen) Driscoll of Marion; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; four sisters, Mary Kaefring, Sister Christine Driscoll, Patricia Kern and Bea Sweeney; two brothers, Patrick and Joseph; sisters-in-law, Maxine and Pat Driscoll.
