Eldeen Rites

Masonic services for Emil W. Eldeen, 75, of Highway 6 West Coralville, who died Friday morning in his home will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the George L. Gay Funeral home by the Iowa City Masonic Lodge No 4 AF&AM.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted. Friends may call from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to emphysema research in care of the American Lung Association.

Mr. Eldeen was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Hitchcock, South Dakota, a son of Charles E. and Alta Lauphere Eldeen. He married Romola T. Kessler Dec 23, 1933, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for the Home Town Dairy, drove an ambulance for University Hospitals and, for over 30 years owned and operated Eldeen Plumbing. He was a past master of the Iowa City Masonic Lodge No. 4 AF&AM, past president of the Eagles Lodge, a member of the Iowa City American Legion Post 17, and a member of the Coralville American Legion, Walter Johnson Post 721.

He is survived by his wife, Romola of Coralville; a son, Jon of North Liberty; three grandchildren; six brothers, including Edwin Eldeen of Iowa City; four sisters, including Agda (Mrs. Joe Alt of North Liberty. Two brothers died earlier.
