Patricia Le Var, 65, of 201 N. 1st Avenue, Iowa City, died at the home of her sister, Marilyn Swanson, on Friday, April 25, 2003. She had struggled with cancer since 1995.

Patricia Marion Schultz was born April 13, 1938, in Berkley, Michigan. She was a graduate of Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois, and North Park College in Chicago. She was retired from a career in the Legal Department of Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco and had lived for over 20 years at 516 O’Farrell Street. She was widowed in January 2000 and moved to Iowa City in January 2002 to be near her sister and family. She was a lifetime member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society (www.8thafhs.org) in honor of her husband’s military service and had recently joined the Spinners and Weavers groups of the Craft Guild of Iowa City (www.jccniowa.org/~iccraft).

Over the past four weeks of her life, Patricia was generously cared for by ElderServices, Inc. (www.jccn.iowa-city.ia.us/~esajc/) and Iowa City Hospice (www.iowacityhospice.com/).

Her family includes her brother, Allan R. Schultz and his wife Glenda of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; her sister, Marilyn Swanson and her husband Stephen of Iowa City; and their children and grandchildren, including Lars and Kari Swanson of Iowa City; her aunt, Marion Moore of Connersville, Indiana; and four cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Le Var.

Visitation will be 3-6 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Duggan’s Funeral Service, 3434 17th Street, San Francisco, California (duggans-funeral.com). A graveside service will take place at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Gustine, Merced County, California on Monday, May 19, 11:00 am.
