Peggy J. Elder, 54, of 2100 S. Scott Blvd. in Iowa City died at home of cancer on Monday, April 28, 2003.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City. Friends may call Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City and Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will then be at 1:30 pm Tuesday in the Nichols Cemetery in Nichols, Iowa. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City

Peggy was born May 21, 1948 in Iowa City, the daughter of Pershing & Evelyn (McCaffrey) Elder. She graduated from Iowa City High School and received her degree in nursing from Kirkwood Community College. Peggy worked for 18 years, first as a nurse’s aide and then as a registered nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City before moving to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, where she has been for the past 18 years.

Peggy is survived by two sisters, Jan Hardwick & her husband Thom and Ann McCaffrey Elder, all of Minneapolis, and several aunts, uncles & cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
