Lewis C. Stevens, 91 of 3522 Rohret Road, Iowa City, Iowa died Monday April 21, 2003, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2003 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 PM Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7PM. A reception in the church hall will follow the committal services.

Memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Lewis was born September 1, 1911, the son of Clarence A. and Margaret Johnson Stevens. He was united in marriage to Adelaide Nelson on December 31, 1931, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Lewis and his wife farmed for many years in West Lucas Township. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and enjoyed his grandchildren and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Adelaide of Iowa City, Iowa, his son, Keith Stevens and his wife Marlene of Hills, Iowa and their children Larry Stevens, Rick Stevens and his wife Kathy, Lynn Briggs and her husband Tom, Deb Metz and her husband Duane, Lauri Simon and her husband Leon. His daughter Beverly Jones of Iowa City and her children, Matthew Jones and his wife Lena and Randy Jones. He is also survived by twenty-one great grandchildren, three great great grand children and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Marion, and three sisters, Laura, Goldie and Gladys
