Nancy Ann Ringstrom, 81, of Iowa City died Tuesday, July 27th at Mercy Hospice of cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 30th at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be at a later date in Earlham, IA. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Nancy was born April 26, 1929 in Oxford, IA, the daughter of James Francis and “Sandy” Bertha Wheeler Brown. She was a graduate of Earlham High School and attended the University of Iowa. On December 1949 she married the late Dr. Norman Ringstrom. They later divorced and Nancy returned to Iowa City where she was executive director for Quill and Scroll. Nancy later became executive secretary for many years to the head of the UI Dept. of Pathology, retiring in 1991.
Nancy was a world traveler and lovely hostess. She was a great bridge player and had an interest in genealogy and antiquing. Nancy was a member of DAR and a quilter at the Iowa City Senior Center and lifetime member of Iowa City Community Theatre.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Page Ringstrom Appelbaum (Jeffrey) of Minneapolis, MN; two grandsons, David and Robert; her sister, Jane Weideman of Des Moines; two nieces, Nancy Brown and Sarah Milius; many friends including Paul Kemp.
