James "Jim" Patrick Seaba, 72, of North Liberty, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Windmill Manor, Coralville. Memorial Services: 9 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jeffrey Pautz of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Muscatine.
Jim was born August 13, 1937 in Sigourney to John and Eva (Michel) Seaba. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1955. He attended the University of Iowa School of Radiology graduating in 1960. While attending college he met his wife, Mary Jo Colvin. They were married April 26, 1959 in Elkader, Iowa. He worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1960 -- 1969 in the department of Radiology and later for Mercy Medical Center until 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Jo; children, John Seaba of Iowa City, James (Nancy) Seaba of Bartlesville, OK, Bruce (Lisa) Seaba of Muscatine, and Kathryn Beck of North Liberty; grandchildren, Christina, JJ, Katelyn, Sarah, Mary Alice, Ben, and Grace Seaba, and Ryan Beck; and brother, Peter (Hazel) Seaba and their son, Louis Seaba of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim enjoyed his Canadian fishing trips every summer with his sons and best friends, pheasant hunting, gardening, playing cards, traveling and researching family history. His true enjoyment came from spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Melanie Stahlberg, Mercy Medical Center, Windmill Manor, and Iowa City Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mercy Medical Center Foundation or Iowa City Hospice.
