Anthony Wayne Peer, 52, of Iowa City died peacefully Friday July 16, 2010 at Mercy Hospice surrounded by his family.
Anthony was born August 11, 1957 in Iowa City, the son of Merle and Darlene Peer. He attended Solon Community Schools and later received his GED. Anthony married Shirley Anne Finnegan on June 3, 1980.
Anthony was employed in the warehouse at NCS and ACT for many years. He will be remembered for his love and kindness toward others, riding his bike, playing poker and bingo, collecting cans and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, and friends.
He is survived by his former spouse, Shirley (Finnegan) Peer; his daughter, Melody Peer (Doug Reckner); two sons, Andrew (Hilary) Williams and Jody Nemec, all of Iowa City; two sisters, Rose (John) Fisher of North Liberty and Denise (Paul) Krogh of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Larry (Donna) Peer of Texas and Dennis (Jodi) Peer and Jerry Peer, both of North Liberty; two grandsons, Jordan and Ryan; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Linda.
