Ronald D. “Ron” Ham, 53, of 606 Pine Ridge Road in Coralville, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics from complications of a brain tumor.
Ron was born October 21, 1956 in Iowa City, the son of Marvin and Betty (Zajicek) Ham. He graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1975. He married Dawn K. Moore December 8, 1984 in Iowa City.
Ron enjoyed spending time on and near the river, NASCAR, fishing, hunting and was loyal to Hawkeye football and wrestling. He was also a longtime Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Ron owned and operated Ron Ham Concrete (formerly a partner in Riggan-Ham Concrete) for over 30 years. His son R.J. has worked in the business for the past 10 years.
He is survived by his children, R.J. Ham of Coralville, his daughter Ashley Martin (Carl) of North Liberty ; his mother Betty Ham of Solon; twin sister Bonnie Noel (Rick) of Lone Tree, sister Phyllis Meade (Ron) of Iowa City and brother Tom Ham (Sharon) of Montezuma; his father in law Jim Moore of North Liberty, several nieces and nephews, his cat Ally and his black lab Alli.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Marvin, his wife Dawn in March of 2000, a sister Patricia Haman, his mother in law Judy Moore and a niece, Merrick Ham.
