IOWA CITY

Jean A. Markey, 73, of 4635 Herbert Hoover Hwy. SE, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003
at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be made to a general fund in her name. The Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service of Iowa City is in charge of the arrangements.

Jean A. Markey was born October 3, 1929 in Hampton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Nicholas John Markey. She had worked at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids and later Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.

Jean is survived by two sons; Michael J. Markey and his wife, Karen of Des Moines, Joseph W. Markey III of Chicago, her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Markey of Minneapolis, Minnesota, her granddaughter, Breana of Des Moines, Iowa, two brothers; John Shear of Oregon and Jim Shear of California.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
