Gregory B. Weaver, 79, of 502 Kimball Road died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, after a long battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Greg was born August 1, 1923, the son of Ernest and Jennie (Konency) Weaver in Gregory, South Dakota. He attended school in the Iowa City area. On August 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to Leona Agnes Greazel at St. Wenceslaus in Iowa City. He worked at many local auto body shops as a body and fender repair man.

Greg enjoyed fishing and he always had a very large garden. He was a devoted member of St. Wenceslaus Church, where he was an usher and altar server. He also participated in the S.H.A.R.E. program and many other parish activities.

He is survived by his wife Leona of Iowa City; two daughters, Diana Wagner and her husband James of Iowa City, Iowa, and Linda McClure and her husband Daniel of Rockville, Maryland; two brothers, Amos Weaver and his wife Berniece, and Raymond Weaver and his wife Esther all of Shelbina, Missouri; one sister, Rose Pellock of Florida; two grandchildren, Matthew Wagner and his wife Emily of Seattle, Washington, and Robin Reasoner and her husband Robert of Stanford, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary and one brother, Ralph.
