Norm J. Thomas, 52, of 701 19th Avenue died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics of a heart ailment.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa, with the Rev. Ken Royar officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Norm was born September 17, 1950, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Dortha Davis Thomas. He married Diane Lersch on August 12, 1978, at Danforth Chapel in Iowa City.

He was a graduate of Clarion High School and the University of Iowa. Norm was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and after graduating from the University of Iowa, Norm managed the fraternity for many years. He established Thomas Realtors & Property Management and had developed numerous properties in the Iowa City area.

In past years Norm had been involved with the Iowa City Jaycees, the Boy Scouts and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He was well known in the business community and enjoyed networking with his friends over a cup of coffee at the Cottage. He was an avid Hawkeye wrestling fan. Norm will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his former wife, Diane of Iowa City; Two Sons, Nathan Thomas and Thaddeus Thomas, both of Iowa City; and One Aunt, Olga Thomas of Clarion, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Beth, and his uncle, Walter.
