Michael Kessler

DAVENPORT -- Michael Kessler, 72, a former Solon area farmer, died at Mercy Hospital in Davenport Monday evening.

Services are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation at the Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home in Davenport will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation and rosary will be Thursday at the Brosh Funeral Home in Solon, but times have not been established.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Family School Education Fund in Davenport.

Mr. Kessler was born Feb. 12, 1908, in Solon, a son of Adolph and Theresa Ryan Kessler. He married Veronica Kelly June 6, 1938, in Oxford. He farmed in Solon until retiring in 1962, when he moved to Davenport and worked as a maintenance man at Marycrest College in Davenport.

Surviving are his wife, of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Loyule (Mary) Mueller and Margaret Kessler, both of Davenport; one son, John of Davenport; and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Alice of Solon; Marie of Iowa City; and Irene Costello of Coralville; and three brothers, Ed of Iowa City; William of Solon and Morris of Solon.
