Henry Kessler

SOLON -- Henry M. Kessler, 84, of Solon died today at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Funeral mass will be Saturday morning (time pending) at St. Mary's Church in Solon with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the Brosh Funeral Home in Solon.

Mr. Kessler was born Feb. 20, 1887, in Johnson County, son of Jacob and Mary Kessler. He married Anna Harapat April 19, 1911, at Solon. He farmed in the Solon area until his retirement in 1950. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by a son, Donald of Solon; a daughter, Mrs. Martin Sovers of Solon; four brothers, John of Solon, Andrew of North Liberty, Everett of Walker and Robert of Whittier, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kasper of Iowa City and Mrs. Mary Connelly of Marshall, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, a brother and a daughter.
