Lucille C. Cooney, 78, of Iowa City, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at the Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center after a long illness.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service with Deacon Robert Larsen officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Parish Vigil Service will begin at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a general fund in her name.
Ms. Cooney was born on Feb 9, 1920, in Iowa City, to Gus L. and Gertrude (Strub) Miller. She attended St. Patrick's school. She was a life-long resident of the Iowa City area, working at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in food services until 1965, when she worked at University Hospitals until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Milder and her husband, Michael, of Iowa City; one son, William "Bill" Cooney and his wife Jean, of Thomton, Colo.; one sister, Dorothy Alberhasky of Iowa City; two brothers, Robert G. Miller of Marshalltown, and Perry Miller, Sr. of Iowa City; her sister-in-law, Mary Miller of Iowa City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents and two brothers, Harry and Leopold, died earlier.
