Doris Jean Wildman, 76, of Iowa City died peacefully Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens . Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 6pm. Friends may call at the Church after 10am, Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or St. Patrick’s Church.
Doris was born December 21, 1933 in Iowa City, the daughter of Willis and Mary Mahoney Potter. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. On October 5, 1952 Doris married Earl “Jay” Wildman at St. Patrick’s Church.
Doris was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Most important to Doris was to care for family and raise her children. She liked to travel, play cards and spend time at the Riverside Casino.
Doris is survived by six children, Kay Mayfield, Pamela Wildman, Greg Wildman and Billie Ann Wildman, all of Iowa City, Jeff (Rhonda) Wildman of Riverside, Jay “Douglas” Wildman of Atkins; Jay (Rose)Gillispie, whom she raised; 14 grandchildren, Jessica (David), Katie, Courtney (Cody), Chelsea (Brad), Tyler, Melissa (Robert), Samantha, Jillian, Jacob, Nick, Sara (Luke), Rick, Riley Kate, Ryan; great grandchildren, Olivia, Gianna, Chloe, Cody, Skylar, Adele, Jay and Stone; three siblings, Colleen Mosley of Simi Valley, CA, Carol Ketchum of Solon and Paul (Mary) Potter of Iowa City.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister Patricia Speers.
