Mark R. Feeney, 53, passed away on Thursday, March 04, 2010 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City following a long illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 9 at Parkview Church, 15 Foster Road, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Mark Feeney Memorial Fund.
Mark was born in Davenport, IA on August 21, 1956, the son of Richard and Ina (Bogarich) Feeney. After graduating from Davenport Central High School in 1974, Mark enlisted in The United States Air Force, serving proudly from 1974-1978. During his four years of active duty, Mark served 3 years in Japan. Following the service, Mark moved to Iowa City where he attended The University of Iowa. On July 19, 1986, Mark was united in marriage to Lisa Reynolds at Parkview Church.
For over 10 years, Mark worked for The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as an Operator in the Telecommunications department. He was a wonderful family man who loved spending time with Lisa and their two daughters, Hannah and Kirstin. Mark’s personal relationship with the Lord was very important to him. It was his trust in the Lord that gave him the strength for each day. Mark enjoyed attending his daughters activities, traveling, bicycling, reading, camping and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mark was also known for being very entertaining and having a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Lisa and their two daughters Hannah and Kirstin, all of Iowa City, two half-sisters Vicki Lofgren (Michael) of East Moline, IL and Penny Lankford (Richard) of Davenport, step-mother Margaret Feeney of Davenport, and two aunts Patricia Thorndike of Skidmore, TX and Sandra Feeney of Solon. Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
