Buchmayer Rites

Services for Joseph F. Buchmayer route 2, who died Tuesday at the Solon Care Center after a long illness, there will be at 10:30 Thursday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating.

Burial will e at the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation has begun at the George L. Gay Funeral Home where a Masonic memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Joseph F. Buchmayer Memorial Fund through the funeral home.

Mr. Buchmayer was born September 21 1890, in Newport Township Johnson County, a son of Frank and Anna (Pauba) Buchmayer. He married Neva Mae Kessler March 4, 1923, in Iowa City. He attended the Iowa City Academy and was a lifetime Johnson County farmer.

For 10 years he had worked as a guard at Mercy Hospital and was a committee man for the Johnson County ASCS. He was a charter member of the Johnson County Farm Bureau, a 50 year member of the Iowa City Masonic Lodge No. 4 AF & AM and served as a Newport Township School Board member for 33 years. He was active in the Consumers' Coop in Iowa City.

Survivors include his wife; one son Karl of Iowa City, two daughters, Jean (Mrs. Elmer) Hahn of Solon and Orianna (Mrs. Robert) Haman of Iowa City, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Two sisters died earlier.
