Elizabeth “Bette” Wyjack, age 84 of 205 Paddock Circle, formerly of 23 Olive Court, Iowa City died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2003 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Kenneth Kuntz officiating. Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:30 pm to 5pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A parish vigil service will be held at 4:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home by Sister Agnes Giblin. Memorial donations can be made in Bette’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Bette was born December 15, 1918, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude (Novak) Eister. She graduated from Tiffin High School in 1936. On July 15, 1940, she married Wilbur “Jim” Wyjack at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford. For a number of years she worked at Alden’s Department Store, and later for many years for ACT retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City and also the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Her family includes her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Deb Wyjack of Iowa City; granddaughter, Sarah Wyjack and her special friend, Jared Bouslog of San Diego. CA; grandson, Tom Wyjack of Iowa City; one brother, Harry Eister of Iowa City; two sisters, Alyce and her husband, John Sullivan of Coralville, and Irene Oakes of Clinton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Jim on December 31, 1996.
