Jayne Thomas Corcoran, 61, of Coralville, died unexpectedly Monday, January 25, in Key West, Fla., of complications from diabetes.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Mercy Hospital Foundation for diabetes education.

Jayne was born Dec. 17, 1948 in Iowa City, the daughter of Richard T. and Margaret J. O’Connor Corcoran. She attended St. Mary’s School and was a 1967 graduate of Regina High School. She attended the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Chi Omega, and Muscatine Community College.

She married Dr. Blaine Thomas and spent most of her adult life in Hannibal, Mo., employed first as a drug treatment counselor for the State of Missouri Department of Corrections, and later as a private business owner and office manager of her husband’s dental practice in Perry, Mo.

She was an active member of P.E.O., King’s Daughters and the Hannibal Women’s Club. For many years, she helped organize and volunteered at the annual Folk Life Festival sponsored by the Hannibal Arts Council.

The center of Jayne’s life were her family and friends, whom she cared for deeply and entertained with generosity and grace. Her home was always filled with beauty, warmth and love. She was an avid reader, accomplished bridge player, exceptional interior decorator, antique lover, and seamstress. For more than 25 years, she enjoyed spending several weeks each year vacationing in Key West.

Survivors include her former husband, Dr. Blaine Thomas, of Hannibal, Mo.; daughter Trisha Thomas and her husband, Dave Rickey , of Austin, Texas, and their children Anna, Felicia, Monique, Nicolas and Thomas, and daughter Anne Peterson and her husband, Dr. Don Peterson, Coralville, and their children, Ben, Katie, Mackenzie and Zach; brother Tom Corcoran, of Iowa, and his wife, Joanna; sister Kate Corcoran, of Seattle, Wash.; nephew Alexander Hill, Iowa City; niece Megan Corcoran and her husband, Bret Schacht, of Lawrence, Kan., and their son, Caden, and niece Elizabeth Hill, of Coon Rapids, Iowa; aunts Teresa Reynolds Cambridge, Iowa City, Madlyn Erdman, Rochester, Minn., and Ruth Corcoran, Chelsea, Mich.; 15 cousins; and a special friend, Kevin Callahan, of Falmouth, Mass.
