Martina M. “Marty” Meyer, a former resident of 1918 Ridgeway Drive in Iowa City for 40 years, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch.

Marty was born May 26, 1916 in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Gustave and Katherine (Kuhn) Meyer. Raised in Sigourney, Marty graduated from Drake University with a degree in education. Moving to Iowa City in 1949, she worked at the Iowa City Press Citizen for 30 years as a classified advertising accounting supervisor, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Altrusa (of which she was a past president) and Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her brother Earl Meyer of Iowa City and many cousins.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents.
