Dorothy L. Swanson age 79 of 8 Century Street, Iowa City, Iowa died on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a long illness. A memorial service will be held in Florida later this year. When Dorothy lived in Florida she loved retuning to East Lake Okoboji, Iowa and their summer residence where she was able to visit her family and friends in her home town of Mason City, Iowa. In honor of their mother’s love to travel her daughters, Judy and Ruth will journey to St. Petersburg, Florida with Dorothy’s urn for burial beside her husband, Leo Swanson Sr.
Her family includes her three children, daughters, Judy Swanson and Ruth Henry of Iowa City; a son Patrick and wife, Louise Swanson of Palm Harbor, Florida; granddaughters, Jessica and husband, Jay Mienders of Lakota, Iowa, Jennifer and Ashley Swanson of Clearwater, Florida; two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Samantha Mienders of Lakota, Iowa; a brother Donald Shinn of Mason City, Iowa along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
