Edna L. Michener, 92, formerly of 320 S. Dubuque Street in Iowa City, died Monday, August 2, 2004 at Iowa City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a
short illness.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at West Branch Cemetery with Chaplain Anna Bradshaw officiating. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Edna was born June 29, 1912 in Sharon Center, Iowa, the daughter of William & Pauline (Sass) Roessler. She graduated from Iowa City High School. She married Alvin Michener July 23,1934 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Edna and her husband worked and raised their family in West Branch until 1980, when they moved to Capitol House Apartments in Iowa City. Edna also operated a gift shop in her home from 1960 until 1969. Edna was a member of the Hi-Lo Bridge Club in West Branch.

Survivors include a daughter, Doreen Zimmerman & her husband John “Doc” of Iowa City, a son Bill Michener & his wife Kay of Red Oak, Texas; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one step granddaughter; three step great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Virginia Roessler of Clinton and Dora Rinehart and Florence Larson, both of Iowa City.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, a brother Don and a sister Gertrude Sorensen, one step sister and two step brothers.
