Earnest Roberson, 53, of 702 S. First Avenue died of cancer Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Mercy Hospital.

Earnest was born August 17, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Sam and Cora Jackson Roberson. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he played football.

Earnest was a Correctional Officer at the Iowa Classification and Medical Center for thirty years.

He is survived by his son, Shahab Roberson of Iowa City; his special friend, Ollie Kirksey of Iowa City; six sisters, Jonimae, Barbara, Susan, Lucille, Dolores and Onnie;
One brother, Eddie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, June, Olivia and Jean.
