David J. “Teq” Gartner

David J. “Teq” Gartner, 49, of 1211 Rochester Avenue died Sunday, June 4, 2006
at UIHC of complications from an apparent cerebral hemorrhage.

Dave was born June 29, 1956 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leo and Edwina Schueller
Gartner. He was a 1974 graduate of Wahlert High School and attended the University of Iowa. On November 4, 1989 he married Barbara Bedell at the Unitarian Church in Iowa City.

Dave had been employed by the Williams/Magellan Pipeline for eighteen years, where he was a damage prevention maintenance operator. Prior to that he was employed at Allied Van Lines.

Dave enjoyed nature and the outdoors. He was an avid sport enthusiast who loved to snow ski and fish. He was a coach for the Iowa City Kickers and the Iowa City Boys Baseball League. This year he was co-coach for the Minnesota Twins and a coach with Iowa City Flag Football. David was involved in the Horace Mann School BASP (Before and After School Program).

Dave was a great husband and father! He cherished the time spent with his family. He was a talented craftsman with a keen eye for detail who enjoyed time spent on home projects. Dave will be greatly missed. Through his forethought and generosity, he will live on for many years to come with the donation of his organs, enabling others to have the same healthy, purposeful life God granted him.

Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara and their sons Jodie and Drew; four siblings,
Cletus ( Ann) Gartner, Roger Gartner and Linda Langkamp all of Dubuque, and
Kenneth (Marianne) Gartner of Ft. Collins, Colorado; brother-in-law Terry Ehlers of Dubuque; his in-laws, Dr. George and Mirriel
Bedell of Iowa City and their family; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Leo, July 1, 1989 and Edwina, October 8, 1974; three siblings, Ronald, July 1, 1942, Mary Lee, October 8, 1994, and Judy, April 2, 2006.
