Regina Margaret (Houston) Aschenbrenner, 89, formerly of Iowa City, died Friday October 20, 2006 in Louisville CO following a long illness.

Regina was born on July 3, 1917 in Dunlap, Iowa to Edward and Ellen Houlihan Houston. She married Ralph Aschenbrenner in Dunlap, IA on June 3, 1946. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Dunlap, Iowa She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. She taught in rural Iowa schools for a few years and then moved to Iowa City where she taught for many years. Regina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very active in church activities. She enjoyed playing bridge and exercising at the fitness center.

Regina has lived near her daughter Jean in an Alzheimer's Residence for the past four years and has appreciated frequent family visits. She greatly enjoyed the family reunion that her children organized in July of this year.

Regina is survived by her children: Jean Aschenbrenner of Boulder, CO, John and wife Susan of Urbandale, IA, Mary Collins of Rapid City, SD, Barbara Manderfield and husband Jerry of Medellin Columbia, South America, Patricia Abeling and husband Tony of LaHabra, CA, her sister Lucille Houston of Cannon Beach, OR and her grandchildren; Kate, Kristin, Erich, Melissa, Jonas, Nick, Joel, Bryce, Cara, Kelley, and Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters, and a infant daughter Nancy.
