Cherise Roberta Christiansen, 50, of 1749 Hafor Drive, Iowa City, passed away on November 15.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist in either Iowa City or Davenport.
Cherise Roberta Marolf was born in Davenport, Iowa to Jo Anne and Wally Marolf on February 20, 1956. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1974 and attended the University of Iowa, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and performed as a twirler in the marching band. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978, she married Dana Christiansen on June 23, 1979, in Bettendorf. Cherise worked for several years in the home furnishings industry prior to becoming a devoted mother and homemaker.
After moving to Iowa City in 1993, her strong love of children led her to a job as a crossing guard at Horn Elementary School, a position she held for nearly ten years. More recently, she was employed as a seamstress at Von Maur until mid-2005.
Possessed of an incredibly strong faith, Cherise was very active in the Christian Science churches in Davenport and Iowa City, where she was on the Board of Directors and served as a reader.
In addition to the enjoyment she derived from cooking and baking for her family, she loved working with little children, whose innocence and honesty she valued highly. The centerpieces of Cherise's life were faith, family, and friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her will surely miss her indomitable goodwill, courage, and conviction.
She is survived by her loving family including husband Dana; two children, Andrew of Minneapolis and Melodee of Coralville; two brothers, Dane of Davenport and Gregg (wife, Micki) of Dubuque; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
