Carol Mae McCabe, 84 of 612 8th Ave. Coralville and a recent resident of Hawthorne Inn and Windmill Manor died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Carol was born May 25, 1922 in Solon,IA the daughter of Robert J. and Pearl (Cant) DeBruyne. She was a graduate of West Branch High School and later graduated from Irish Business College in Iowa City. On July 21, 1943 she married Robert J. McCabe in Morse, IA. For many years Carol worked for Job Service of Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Carol enjoyed bowling, golfing, she was an avid reader and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother.

She is survived by her two children; Marilyn Meade and her husband Tom of Coralville; her son, James and his wife Leta of Coralville; one brother, Donald and his wife Carol DeBruyne of Vancouver, WA; one sister-in-law, Florence DeBruyne of Beaverton, OR; three grandchildren; Tammy McCabe of Coralville, IA, Tom Meade and his wife Stacey of Bennington, NE, Tim McCabe and his wife Susan of North Liberty, IA. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Caitlin and Jaden McCabe. She is survived by seven nephews and four nieces.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Robert “Bud” DeBruyne, Joseph DeBruyne and by one sister-in-law, Florence DeBruyne.
