Annis O. Stark, 92 died August 29, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was born on February 16, 1915, to John and Bessie (Young) Ogilvie in LeMars, Iowa.

She graduated from LeMars High School in June 1932 and attended the University of Iowa from 1932-1934, where she majored in music. On August 27, 1934 she married Herald I. Stark in LeMars, Iowa.

Herald and Annis resided in Iowa City from 1934-1976. Herald was the Head of the Vocal Music and Opera Department at the University of Iowa and he was also the choir director for the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City.

From 1976 until 2006 they resided in San Antonio, TX where he started the graduate program in vocal studies at UTSA. Annis taught piano lessons in her home.
She is survived by her son, Phillip “Pete” Stark and his wife Chris and son Jonathon all of Denver, Colorado; her daughter, Linda MacTaggart and her husband Phil and Linda’s sons, Alex Steinberg of Orland park, Illinois and Cory Steinberg and his wife, Janelle of Tustin, California.
Annis is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herald Stark, brother, Donald and daughter, Jan Stark
A Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Foundation to Music Scholarships-in Annis O. Stark memory.
