Dorothy “Dottie” L. Krantz, 61, of Iowa City, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 19th, 2008 after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Dottie Krantz Memorial Fund or Iowa City Hospice.

Dorothy was born August 19th, 1946 in Iowa City, the daughter of Zeno and Irene (Gerot) Knebel. She was a member of the first graduating class of Highland Community High School in 1964. Dorothy owned and operated Hills Beauty Salon for eight years and later was a hair stylist for Precision Design for over 20 years. She was a caring person who not only loved her family and friends, but also her animals.

Dorothy is survived by her son Chad of Iowa City, three brothers; Richard Knebel of Iowa City, Loren (DeAnn) Knebel of Riverside and Harley (Carole) Knebel of Falmouth, MA, two sisters; Shirley Slaughter and Liela (Wayne) Horak both of Iowa City and former spouse Dallas Krantz of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Krista Krantz and a sister Thelda Hill.
